Why I am building this.
Most investing apps open on a wall of tickers and assume you already know what you are looking at. Most people my age own nothing of the companies they use every day. Not because they decided against it. Nobody ever put one of those companies in front of them and said what it does, in a sentence, and then got out of the way. That is the whole observation. I built Stoxswipe around it and tried not to add anything else.
So it is one company at a time, a plain sentence on what it actually does, a year of its price in one line, and the things the people who do this for a living already read: the filings, the ratings, where the money moved today. If you want to own a piece, the order goes through the brokerage account you already have, and you confirm it yourself. We never hold your money and we never tell you what to buy.
I am a sophomore at UW-Madison and I built it alone: the app, the data pipelines, the brokerage integrations. It is on TestFlight now, being tested with real accounts and real orders, and it goes on the App Store when it is right. If you want to know when that is, there is an email box on the front page. If you want to tell me what is wrong with it, my email is below. I read all of it.
